Contains several letters. The first letter, to Mr. Pickering, is about Mr. [likely Christopher] Gore, who has delivered Pickering the letter. Gore has been appointed Commissioner of a body negotiating with Great Britain for captured Americans on British vessels (as part of Jay's Treaty). Explains Gore's character and political beliefs. The last two letters are apparently to Mr. [George] Hammond, a British minister to the United States. The first introduces Hammond to a Mr. [Tudor], who would like to visit Europe. The second sends his respects to Hammond's wife as well as to Mr. and Mrs. [Christopher] Gore, "who are among our most respectable citizens."
