References Knox's letters of 4 and 11 January. Says Knox's son will not be seeing a dancing master as those instructions arrived too late. If he must go to Philadelphia, he will, "but I am closing the settlement of my Fathers Estate which cannot be conveniently left in its present situation." Goes on to say "If from any cause you do not resign your Public Situation, or cannot attend yourself to the patent - only interest me one sixth or an eight in your late purchase and allow me what you may think reasonable p[er] annum, and I will undertake the whole management of the business, and will myself go down on the spot the next season and devote my whole time to it, and if necessary will remain there the next ten years of my life." Would like to have an active life.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
