Writes, "Mr. [Matthew] McConnell has discounted for me the note you was so obliging as to accept & remitted me the money - I think there is no probability of a charter being granted for another New Bank in New York - it is a pity this rage for speculation is so great - half shares have fell to 30 per cent in consequence of a quantity being sold out here from the Boston market & the money taken away however it is expected the flurry will be soon over and they will rise again."
