Reports that the [Mass.] House of Representatives decided against them and makes it unlikely that they can proceed with part of their plans. Says that he will not write in great depth about it, as he expects Colonel [Benjamin] Hichborn and General [Henry] Jackson will write to Knox on the subject, but proposes some ideas on how best to proceed. Briefly outlines the decision of the General Committee and suggests it might be to their advantage to compromise on a purchase from the ten proprietors rather than decide prematurely to buy land from the government.
