Congratulates Knox on the birth of his daughter, which took place on 8 July. Says he might need discounts at the Bank of Philadelphia in the course of his future business. Asks Knox if he will accept "my bill on you at forty five or sixty days sight." Explains that the money will be given to Knox in time to pay the bill, and that the bill will be drawn by Mr. McConnell. Says he wants access to an extension of credit "to answer Mercantile Speculations, which I apprehend I can make to profit for these few months to come." Postscript says he enclosed letter from Mrs. Randall is for Lucy Knox (not included). Stamped "FREE" on verso. Knox answers Randall's letter on 21 July 1791 (GLC02437.05077).
