Thanks Knox for the hospitality shown to him and his wife by Knox and his wife while in New York. Welcomes any friend of Knox's to Madeira should one come. Offers to send more wine at a discounted price and wants Knox to recommend Pintard's "house" Pintard, Weston, and Company. His friend, McGeorge Meade, will receive the shipment. A thank you note is written in an unknown at the bottom of the letter, and a post script indicates they are also sending Knox lemons.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
