Asks Knox to forward an enclosed letter to General [Josiah] Harmar (he spells it "Harmer"), which contains a letter to Major [Winthrop] Sargent (letter is not included). Also discusses his shares in the Ohio Company and his ability to settle his estate for his children. Sends respects to Knox and his wife, as well as to Governor [Arthur] St. Clair, if he happens to be with Knox in New York. Docket is marked private, and contains the struck name of "Nathaniel," with "John" written over the strikeout.
This document likely relates to John Tracy (1753-1815), who was one owner of the firm Jackson, Tracy & Tracy in the 1770s. Nathaniel Tracy, the second of the firm's three owners, was John's brother.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
