At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Asks Knox if he is "Interested in any Estate which came to Mr. Flucker by his last Wife towit Brigadere [sic] Waldo's daughter," and advises him that if he is "it may be worth your while to take some care about it - I am Acquainted with it and may be useful in [illegible] it - "
