At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Discusses the Waldo patent land in respect to it interfering "with the lands belonging to the Plymouth Company and requesting to know if the Committe [sic] would make up the defisency [sic] without the proprietors applying to the general Court ... " Informs that General Henry Jackson told him Knox wanted to find someone to reside at St. Georges, Maine and take care of his business there but Putnam cannot recommend anyone.
