At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Signed by William Price, an officer of the police, and Major Samuel Shaw, an aide-de-camp to General Knox. Provision return for one lieutenant police officer for the garrison of West Point for the month of August 1783. A total of 93 rations were issued for the 31 days. Docket signed by Price stating that contractors delivered the rations. Docket also signed by a C. Rum.
