Writes, "Colo. [John] Greaton the commanding officer of the 3 Massachusetts Brigade has marched with his Regiment to relieve the Ports at Dobbs Ferry, Stony, and Verplanks point, since which I have received information that the Brigade is without a conductor, or any person to receive & deliver arms, ammunition &c. Mr. Austin the late Conductor ought not to have left the Brigade, untill he was regularly relieved by another, as thus are many articles to receive & deliver & no person so proper to transact the business as himself, as he must be accountable for every thing on Land." Asks Knox to appoint a Conductor as soon as possible. Written from New Boston, which may be located in present-day Massachusetts or New Hampshire.

The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
