Report of the rout of the rebels

"…he encountered Genl Echols, Pattons & Jacksons forces entrenched on the summit of Droop Mountain…after a severe action the rebels were routed completely all of his wounded falling into our hands. Our loss in killed & wounded about one hundred Gen Averell moved on Lewisburg on the seventh (7) as arranged"
