Telegram from a Colonel J.C. Paxton to Captain Botsford stating he is ready with 250 men and horses. With endorsment signed in initials of Brigadier General Scammon of the 23rd Ohio (probably not in Scammon's hand) instructing to be ready to move at daylight tomorrow for Sommerville, West Virginia. With note on verso in Scammon's hand and signed with initials stating "Return this." On stationary of the U.S. Military Telegraph. Year inferred from Scammon's rank, most likely 1863.
