Fox thanks him for his letter and for clarifying for him the situation with the friars and their lands in the Philippines and the position of the United States government. Regrets the fact that the government of the United States has allowed the Friar Lands to be occupied, and warns that if "the Filipinos are allowed to disregard our laws in this connection now and proceed with impunity, it is not at all unlikely they will feel encouraged to encroach on some other people's rights in the near future." Clerical copy, typed on stationery of the Holy Name Society, branch no. 47. Letter signed as Societal Secretary.
