Major General Brown notes receiving Colonel Mitchell's letter reporting the British capture of Oswego, New York, at the Battle of Big Sandy during the War of 1812. Indicates that he is satisfied with Mitchell's actions against the superior British forces. Discusses military plans and mentions the location of the enemy fleet, directs an express be established.
