She reports that Samuel continues to become more sick and the doctor gives no hope. While the neighbors are kind, she needs a strong man and asks that George May Powell come help as her brothers are too far away and her sister is too frail. Addressed "Dear M" the letter is possibly written to Mrs. Powell
