At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Different Christian denominations are working in an unprecedented, glorious way to spread the gospel, despite intense persecution. All Christians are bound together in love, and each has a "peculiar honor & privilege to unite their efforts for the circulation of that blessed gospel." All must work for this advancement, particularly by raising funds in each denomination." He also praises religious women in being close to Christ and witnessing of Christ.
