At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

n Riverside Press letterhead, re: He defines their objection to the contract, that while Prof. Rawson owns the book, the contract is in another name. The publishers have been asked to do things not included in the contract. He asks GMP to adjust the written contract to match his verbal agreement with Rawson. GMP's copied response at the bottom of the letter indicates a desire to meet with Mr. Hurd on the matter.
