At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

This letter describes a lecture on Jewish history given in several churches in Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston, and differs slightly from the previous letter. The AB.C.F.M. reprinted an abstract of the lecture, prepared for a review of Sunday School work during 1876-1878. Recommendations are included.
