Full title is: "History of the Sixtieth Regiment New York state volunteers, From the Commencement of its Organization in July, 1861, to its Public Reception at Ogdensburgh as a Veteran Command, January 7th, 1864." Written by Eddy, the chaplain of the regiment. Published by Eddy himself in Philadelphia at 133 Congress Street. Stereotyping by J. Fagan and Son. Printed by Crissy & Markley. A former owner signed the front twice, once in pen and once in pencil. The name is illegible, but it is dated "Phil 1880." On inside front cover there is a glued paper advertisement for the booksellers "Newell, Smith & Co." in Ogdenburgh, New York. Eddy says the book was written "chiefly from a desire to gratify the families and friends of those connected with the 60th Regiment, by placing before them a true account of the varied vicissitudes through which that command has passed." Divided into 20 chapters, covering the unit from its organization through 1863 (Eddy served with the unit until February 1863). Pages 215-235 contains regimental statistics, including a list of deaths. Pebble-grained brown cloth cover, stamped with very faded gilt on spine for the title. Blind stamped leaves on back cover.
