A pro-South newspaper published at 74 Baltimore Street, near Gay Street, in Baltimore. Front page has a column of vignettes about underdogs in history - making an analogy to the seemingly tough situation of the South at this early part of the war. Also an update on the special session of the Maryland Legislature and a column of news by telegraph. Reference to an Abraham Lincoln speech from Congress in 1848 on page 2 where he gave approbation to revolution. Harsh poem by "A Lady," on Henry Beecher Stowe titled "On a Popular New York Preacher." Contains news on the city of Baltimore and updates from various sections of the South. Page 4 has 2 printed letters of George Washington from 1774. Advertisements throughout. Paper has extensive damage at the fold.
