At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Printed at the Congressional Globe Office. Regarding Kansas, Senator Collamer states, "...I am not prepared at this moment to go at length into my reasons for believing as I do, that the best, the shortest, and the most quiet way is to admit that people with their constitution, and end the trouble." In extremely frail condition, fragmented, and disbound.
