At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Title from docket. Details his opinions and analysis on military strategy and tactics in response to George Washington's questions. First discusses provisions, stating they "are the main savings of an army, and unless they are in perfect order, every movement depending on them, must be wrong, and will in the end, produce destruction." Suggests that this aspect should be put under the Quarter Master General. Discusses the siege of Charleston and detailed plans for a possible attack on New York.
