2nd Massachusetts regiment. "Muster Roll" for the 10 Companies "of the 34th Reg't of Foot in the Service of the United Colonies 1775" [General John Thomas's 2nd Massachusetts Regiment, organized on April 23, 1775, drawn from members of the original Minutemen companies that responded to the Lexington Alarm.] The names include some of the first African American freemen to join the American cause in this desegregated regiment: Cuff Rezara [Rosary] [of Abington], Andrew Pomp [of Marshfield], and Jupiter Richards, Toby Torbett, Cuff Mitchell, Elias Sewall, and Joel Sugmug [Suikamug] [of Bridgewater].
