At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One telegram from Geraldine Vetter to Congressman Carlos J. Moorhead dated November 4, 1973. Vetter is against the impeachment of President Nixon she cites his foreign policy, and states,"We feel that impeachment of Richard Milhouse Nixon as President Of these great United States would be diametrically opposed to the best interest of our country." Same text as GLC09613.02.0149 but sent by Geraldine Vetter alone.
