Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

One telegram from C.O. Borrud and Mrs. C.O. Borrud to Congressman Carlos J. Moorhead dated November 5, 1973. The Borruds are against the impeachment of President Nixon. They write, "No on impeachment lets look into those larcenists a yes for salary increases offices staff stamps etc isn't it the pot calling the kettle black."
