Augsberger tells Ardena that he is fine, but tired. He writes that he worked plenty hard today, but wishes that he had been working on their house instead of in the army. He refers to her letter in which she said someone had told her that Richard does not love her, he just "wanted someone to go with when I get back home." He calls this a complete lie, and tells Ardena that he loves her very much. He says that as along as she believes him, that is all that matters. He sends his love and closes the letter.
