At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

"England" 8:15. Augsberger writes that he agrees with what Ardena said in her last letter, that they "should of run away + got married." He looks forward to starting their life together when he returns. He reports that "one of my buddies here is going to the Hospital Tuesday. He has a fractured skull. I fell sorry for him. But anyway he will get a discharge." He signs off and sends his love.
