Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Moe went to the YMCA where he played ping-pong, then went to the union canteen. He responds to Sylvia's letters by assuring her he is in good health. He talks about Eileen's wedding and notes that weddings aren't always happy occasions for all who attend them. Too many broken homes are represented.
