At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

A combination thank you, and update letter. It starts by saying that General Hanst has not taken over the Collection Office, and as a result Osboron has been unable to take the post as his deputy. Osboron continues to writ that he thanks the senator for all his help in recommending him for the position. There is a small hole located in the top left hand corner of the pages.
