Colonel of the first regiment of Union marksmen, "Berdan's Sharpshooters," to NY Governor Horatio Seymour, supporting requests for promotion for several of his men. [Berdan personally demonstrated his marksmanship to President Lincoln when requesting particular rifles for his regiment.]
