At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Diamond argues about the scale of the wedding with Estelle. He writes about the letters that he has received from various friends. Sidney describes the frustration that he feels at the fact that all of his friends are "working at something constructive", a luxury precluded from him due to his "profession".
