Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Reprinting of the plan given to Congress to charter a national bank.

The Full title of newspaper is "Independent Chronicle and the Universal Advertiser." It ran from at least 1776-1824, and was also known as the "Independent Chronicle," and later as the "Independent Chronicle and Boston Patriot."
