Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

The report is printed in English, with four land promotion tracts in English, French, German and Swedish. Accompanied by an atlas containing 23 folding cloth color maps of each area. One of the maps is said to be the first to show Nevada with its 1866 boundaries.
