Written by Warren as Surgeon General of North Carolina. He was formerly a Professor at University of Maryland. Published by West & Johnson at 145 Main Street, Richmond, Virginia. First edition copy (misspelled "Frist Edition" on the cover page). Dedicated to Lafayette Guild and Joseph P. Logan, both surgeons in the Confederate Army. Index at front lists diseases and other medical problems and procedures that are written about, including amputation, dislocations, fractures, and bullet and sword wounds, etc. Appendix at rear lists charts of various operations undertaken and number of deaths, etc.
