Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Describes organization of his forces in preparation for fighting near Corinth. Lists which Divisions will go with which Generals and where they will be positioned "Maj. Gen. Sherman commanding on the right, Maj. Gen. Ord in the center, and Brig. Gen. Rosencrans on the left." Also notes "will probably move Head Quarters to Jackson."
