Written by retired Rear Admiral Walke to Weidemeyer as Secretary of Appleton & Co. Encloses a copy of a photograph that Weidemeyer requested. Says it "represents, (as it is generally the case) the beard and mustaches too white, instead of iron-gray." Photo appears in Appleton's Cyclopedia.
