General Hood, commander of the 2nd Corps, Army of Tennessee, transmits a copy of a letter he wrote to Confederate President Jefferson Davis. Informs Colonel Chesnut, a former United States Senator, that he (Hood) commands Divisions led by James Ewell Brown Stuart, Carter Littlepage Stevenson, and Thomas Carmichael Hindman. Recipient inferred from outside evidence.
