At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Report on his naval actions. Explains his recent movements, and discusses those of Admiral Franklin Buchanan, the commander of Confederate ships in Mobile Bay. Says his ship will be at the Pensacola Naval Yards for repairs. Written on board the U.S.S. Richmond, during the blockade of Mobile, Alabama. Jenkins was a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy.
