At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Document is signed by Henry Knox and Henry Jackson. John Lesion signed as a witness. An agreement among Henry Knox, Henry Jackson, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Jackson to log Knox's land in Maine. A description of the type, quantity, and length of trees to be logged is also provided along with a negotiated price.
