At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

First part is a return for the number of salmon caught on the island from 14-26 May. Written in John Rynier's hand. Second part is a note from William Staples giving some possible reasons for the drop in the number of fish. Includes signatures from both Rynier and Staples.
