At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Encloses recruit returns (not included). Says he enclosed enlistments, vouchers, and accounts and forwarded them to Mr. Howell. He was directed to deliver them to Knox. Heard they were received. Lyman says there was a balance due to him on the accounts he forwarded. Is in need of that money or recruitment money.
