At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Written during the yellow fever outbreak in Philadelphia. Tells Knox that his children and domestics are in good health. Also says "nothing material has accured [sic] since you left us, as to the disorder in the City." Sends along an enclosed letter from the president as well as another letter from Thomas Sim Lee, Governor of Maryland (not included). Audebert reports he is in good health himself.
