Our Collection

At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Writes that he got Knox's letter, and that his finances are in order, so Knox does not need to worry about him if he does not get the discount. Randall will be able to pay him back either way. Explains briefly what income he will be receiving and what discounts he might receive, and shows how he and Mr. [Samuel] Shaw will have no trouble raising the money. Suggests he might visit Philadelphia this month. "Free" stamped on address leaf with no signature.
