At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Place name is illegible. Possibly written in New Jersey. Barber answers Knox's request, enclosing "the Act respecting the sales of the confiscated property in this State." Discusses monetary inflation of soldiers' notes. Mentions that estates in [Bergen] County are advertized for a March sale at "Hoebuck," a colonial term for Hoboken, New Jersey.
