At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Extract of the minutes of Congress on a resolution involving "rations, subsistance or allowances to officers" over and above their pay. The rates in the resolution are to go into effect on 1 May. Lists number of rations per day and dollars per month allotted to each rank. Transmitted and signed by Deputy Secretary Bond.
