Petition signed by the officers of the 4th Virginia Infantry in favor of Captain Vance of the same regiment who was arrested by Brigadier General Eliakim P. Scammon for intoxication while on duty as Field Officer of the day. Praises Vance as a worthy and dutiful soldier and mentions his father, brother, and other influential friends Vance has. With 25 names.
