At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Printed by the Temperance Republicans. Subtitle reads: "It is high time for the law-maker to advocate laws which shall make safe the homes of honest citizens. Those who help enact laws whereby the rum seller is protected in his nefarious business are equally guilty with him for the murders committed."
