Scott requests that Spottswood dispatch the reports on the commissions for Captain Hays' creditors. States that unless they are returned soon there is a chance there might be sufferers. Scott was a solicitor (lawyer) and was possibly the father of Walter Scott, the poet and novelist from Edinburgh.
