At the Institute’s core is the Gilder Lehrman Collection, one of the great archives in American history. More than 85,000 items cover five hundred years of American history, from Columbus’s 1493 letter describing the New World through the end of the twentieth century.

Co-signed by Zebulon Stow. Receipt related to the settlement and administration of the estate of Aaron White Jr. Lists an inventory of the estate taken by Smith and Stow under oath. This document was originally housed in Gideon Savage's wooden chest (GLC01450.013.02) with others decimalized in GLC01450.013. These are the papers of Gideon Savage relative to the settlement of the estate of Aaron White. White was Savage's father-in-law. White died in the West Indies 31 January 1782.
